ABOUT ME
Hi there! Thank you so much for checking out my portfolio, I'm so happy to have you here. :)
My name is Katie Conway, and I'm an aspiring Illustrator and Writer living in Salem, MA! I graduated from Emerson College in 2018 with with a degree in Media Arts Production - where I concentrated in Screenwriting and minored in Comedy (HA HA). I completed a Mentorship with Women in Animation in 2020, focusing on expanding my skills as a Story Artist. I've since worked as an Art Production Assistant on various film and TV sets, as well drafted character designs for Nickelodeon television pitches! Every holiday season, I also take the extra time to craft specially designed postcards to send to my close friends and family. I hope to continue expanding my illustrative work - focusing on character design, scenery, crafting unique cards, and telling stories.
I grew up on the North Shore of Massachusetts, where my mother read Harry Potter to me before bed, my father introduced to me to Star Wars, and I was captivated by animated feature films. I realized pretty early on I wanted to be a storyteller! To the point where playing pretend, writing my own short stories, and drawing funny comics were as essential to me as breathing. Inspiration for my work comes from mythology and folklore, community and relationships, emotional introspection, storybook imagery and the seasonal changes of New England.
When I'm not working, I like to spend time in coffee shops, travel to new cities, try delicious food, watch new movies, create Spotify playlists, read ghost stories, host trivia nights, and spot dogs in public. I also love to collect postcards, odd socks, and coffee mugs!
Stories and characters are a way for me to understand and reflect on life - to remind myself to be brave, to appreciate the small things, to love as much as I can and often, and to always be myself. I'm ready to get out there, and become the best artist and writer that I can be! Thanks again for checking out my portfolio, and I hope we can work together soon.
